The metal hardware looks to be original to the rifle stock and not added later. This is USGI and as you can see in the pictures and a servicable rifle stock.

CF5 Springfield Armory 1903. Early 1909. 137237. Early features include; straight stock, finger groove, script cartouche, 3/09 barrel with mint bright bore, flat top no-sight groove handguard ( has a 6″ repairable longitudinal crack ), and all early milled proper serrifed font marked parts where expected. Rifle is in amazingly nice shape for a ’09. Original examples from this era are scarce. 75%+ nice patina over blue. $2,499.95

CF6 Springfield Armory 1903. Early featured rifle. 256091. BHM cartouched finger-groove stock with early straight profile on left side, P proof. ’05 dated barrel with bright sharp bore. Metal finish turned brown patina over original blue. Straight bolt handle and early no sighting groove hand guard. Single stock bolt. Overall very good condition. $1,699.95

CF7 Springfield Armory 1873 Trapdoor. A fine example. serial number 241682. Receiver is marked “U.S Model 1873” and the stock cartouche reads “Detroit Board of Commerce” and “LMP 1883.” the barrel bands are marked “U” and the buttplate is stamped “U.S” This rifle is in very good overall condition $2,199.95

CF8 Springfield Armory WWII M1 Garand. This original as issue rifle is dated 2/45 with a serial number of 3547446. The Barrel gauges a 2.5 at the throat and a 1 at the muzzle. The stock has all correct markings with the “SA GAW” cartouche and small crossed canon and circle P on the grip. There are some handling marks on the stock from long term storage and a D stamped into the cartouche but is still in fantastic overall condition with no import or rebuild marks. $4,495

S/N 100,101-120,000 July 1940- July 1941 W.R.A. / R.S. (Winchester Repeating Arms / Robert Sears). Stamp is 1' by 1'. Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .47' in diameter. A 2 or 3 digit number was stamped on the front face of the stock. This was covered by the ferrule.

WRA/WB Col Waldemar Broberg

S/N 120,000- 132,000 July 1941- December 1941 W.R.A. / W.B. in box (Winchester Repeating Arms / Waldemar Bromberg). Stamp is 1' by 1'. Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .47' in diameter. S/N 1,260,000-2,536,000 October 1942- July 1945. WRA / GHD (Winchester Repeating Arms / Guy H. Drewry). Stamp is .81' by .81'. Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .47' in diameter. A 2 or 3 digit number was stamped on the front face of the stock. This was covered by the ferrule.

SA/SPG Col. S.P. Gibbs 1936

S. A. / S. P. G. (Springfield Armory / Stanley P. Gibbs, Inspector). Dimensions are .75' by .81'.
There are 2 versions of the S.A./S.P.G. stamp: This version is almost square with rounded corners and shorter lettering. There is also a more rectangular version with taller lettering. Mr. Gibbs used it on Post WW2 rebuilds.
Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark on the pistol grip. Take your pick of which version was used, with or without serifs.
The drawing number D28292 was on the stock between the pistol grip and the hole for the sling loop.
The front hand guard had the drawing number C46006. The rear hand guard had the drawing number C46005.

S/N 81-3,888,081. Rebuild program. December 1947-June 1950
S. A. / S.P.G. (Springfield Armory / Stanley P. Gibbs). S/N 1 WAS NOT REBUILT. IT IS IN THE SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MUSEUM. Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .437' in diameter. A small .188' Ordnance Wheel was stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip.

There are 2 versions of this stamp: This square version with shorter lettering, and a rectangular version with taller lettering.

Department of Defense Acceptance Stamp (Eagle with 3 stars) .50' by .50'. Other stamp used on the stocks was the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip.

S/N 5,561,000 International Harvester - end of production Department of Defense Acceptance Stamp, 1/2' by 1/2' on left side of stock. The other stamp used was the circle 'P' proof mark, without serifs.

DOD Acceptance 3/8' eagle stamp, boxed.

S/N 4,661,000 - 5,609,000 Internation harvester
Department of Defense Acceptance Stamp, 3/8' by 3/8' on left side of stock. The other stamp used was the circle 'P' proof mark, without serifs.

SA/EMcF Col. Earl McFarland

S/N 665,000 - 730,000 June 1942 - July 1942
S. A. / E.McF. (Springfield Armory / Earl McFarland). Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .72' in diameter. A small .188' Ordnance Wheel was stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip.
The large Ordnance Wheel continued to be used occasionally with the S.A./E.McF., S.A./G.A.W., AND S.A./N.F.R. cartouches until WWII ended.
There are no specific serial number ranges for its use.

S/N 665,000- 2,092,000 June 1942-October 1943
S. A. / E.McF. (Springfield Armory / Earl McFarland). Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .437' in diameter. A small .188' Ordnance Wheel was stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip.

SA/GAW Col. George A. Woody

S/N 1,978,000-3,627,000 August 1943- March 1945
S. A. / G.A.W. (Springfield Armory / George A. Woody). Even though George A. Woody died in August 1944, his inspection stamps remained in the Stamp Racks until March of 1945. An overlap with the SA/NFR stamp. Other stamps used on the stocks were the circled 'P' proof mark (with serifs) on the pistol grip, and the Ordnance Wheel with Crossed Cannons. The wheel was .437' in diameter. A small .188' Ordnance Wheel was stamped on the bottom of the pistol grip.

S/N 3,272,000-3,888,081 November 1944- November 1945
S. A. / N.F.R. (Springfield Armory / Norman F. Ramsey). This was the end of WW2 production.
