Cloverleaf Speedway Drivers

Being a Cloverleaf speedway fan as a child, I admired race car drivers. Sam was one of them. 75 I remember very well. God bless the family. Dave Frost March 30, 2016. At 'The Warehouse' in Maple Hts. My condolences to the Family of Sam. We spent many years racing with the Bob's Automotive Team and I was honored to have known Sam.

Kevin J. Ruic, the flamboyant and sometimes controversial but never dull racing promoter is in the hospital recovering from a series of health issues that struck him recently. R
uic, probably best known as the “Father of the Motorcycle Demolition Derby” and promoter at places like Cloverleaf Speedway, Lorain County Speedway, both in the Cleveland area and Route 66 Speedway in Peoria and as a long time IHRA correspondent and cohort of Bill Bader, is presently recovering at Fairview Hospital in Fairview Park, Ohio.
Well, here's the story: Kevin was returning from Florida two months ago from promoting a huge show down there, when he started having tremendous pain in his side and back. He figured it was kidney stones, since he had this problem before. He went to his doctor and was advised to get straight to the hospital.
Kevin had surgery to remove his kidney. Then as a result of the surgery he lapsed into a coma, and after that he had three heart attacks!
Heart surgery was performed and now 'The Great One' is resting somewhat uncomfortably as he awaits a kidney transplant. I visited with Kevin this afternoon and he asked me to tell you that Mr. Know-It-All is no more.
If he does wish to comment of racing, which is unlikely right now, it will be under his own name. His spirits are good and he could use some good cheer from all of you out there.
Basically, Kevin is a good guy and always had the best interests of his racers at heart. He did some outrageous things over the years, but he always put fannies in the seats, which is a promoter’s job!
If you would like to drop Kevin a line or a card here's his address'
Kevin J, Ruic

or you can send him an email care of: dennyhudock@juno.com
and I'll print it out and deliver it to him
He's still one tough Irishman and could use a little good cheer from us racers.
No matter what you might have thought about Kevin Ruic, he was always interesting and always controversial. Let’s send him some good wishes as he recovers from this series of setbacks.
